Dr. Arana graduated as a Medical Doctor from the University of Havana in 1980. He started his Residency Program at the the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Havana, Cuba, where he obtained a degree as Specialist on Clinical Biochemistry in 1983. Dr. Arana continued conducting research into the Biochemistry of the Central Nervous System at the same institution until 1990 when he was imprisoned for political reasons.
Dr. Arana arrived in the United States as a refugee in October 1994. He finished his Residency program in September 2001 and began providing Subacute Care at Rehabilitation Centers for a year, then Acute Care as a Hospitalist of Memorial System for two years in Broward County.
After moving to Miami-Dade County, Dr. Arana worked at several institutions as a Primary Care Physician and also at Catholic Hospice as a Hospice Physician until January 2013 when he became a Partner at Fenix Medical. Since then he became part of the family of Fenix Medical Partners, doing his best in order to provide professional and compassionate care to his patients while making them feel like family members.
