Combining a strong academic background in finance and accounting, as well as her lifelong dream of working in the medical arena, Sandra Vasquez supervises Fenix Medical’s Hialeah location.
The Cuban-born mother of two has lived in the United States since 2009.
“Since I was a little girl, I always had a passion for medicine,” Vasquez said. “For reasons beyond my liking in Cuba, I could not study in the medical field. I was only granted access to these careers: Accounting, Finance and Economic Statistics.”
When Vasquez arrived in the United States, she continued to pursue her dream. She looked for something related to what she had been able to study in Cuba, but in the medical field. Vasquez found a Health Administration educational program, which included licenses for Coding & Billing, Phlebotomy Technician and Medical Assistant. When she graduated, Vasquez started working in a school teaching administration and medical coding.
“In 2016, life gave me a great opportunity to be directly in the medical field, so I was able to achieve part of my dream by working for Fenix Medical in the position of Codification,” Vasquez said. “Over time I have been able to serve in several positions that have helped me grow professionally and personally, for which I am grateful to the Board and all the workers as they are a great family.”
